Ali Musani, MD, FACP, FCCP - is currently Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver and Director of Interventional Pulmonology at National Jewish Health. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine. His research interests include Lung Cancer, Interventional Pulmonology and other pulmonary diseases. His clinical interests include interventional pulmonology, early diagnosis of lung cancer, staging of lung cancer, treatment of airway obstruction due to cancers and benign disorders, and malignant pleural effusion. He received extensive training, both locally and internationally, in complicated lung diseases requiring bronchoscopic procedures and pleural procedures.

Pablo J. Cagnoni, MD

Pablo J. Cagnoni, M.D. - has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Allos Therapeutics, Inc. since March 2007. From August 2004 to March 2007, Dr. Cagnoni held several key management positions with OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc., serving most recently as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Clinical Research and Medical Affairs. During his tenure, among other responsibilities, Dr. Cagnoni oversaw all of OSI’s clinical development and medical affairs activities relating to Tarceva. From July 2001 to July 2004, Dr. Cagnoni held key roles in clinical development with Allos, serving most recently as Vice President, Clinical Development. Prior to that, Dr. Cagnoni was Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Oncology at the University of Colorado, where he also served as Assistant Director of the Pharmacology Laboratory and member of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program. Dr. Cagnoni received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires Medical School.

Emmanuel M. Hilaire, PhD

Emmanuel Hilaire, PhD - is currently the Interim Manager of the Intellectual Property & Technology Commercialization Program at National Jewish Health. Dr. Hilaire has several years experience in technology transfer and has worked extensively with faculty, patent attorneys and business executives to commercialize National Jewish technologies. Prior to joining National Jewish, Dr. Hilaire was an intern at the Kansas State University Technology Transfer Office. He earned his BS in biology from the University of Nice, France and received his PhD in space biology from Kansas State University where he also completed a postdoctoral fellowship. Dr. Hilaire has worked extensively with NASA and was responsible for the training of several astronauts as well as the design of various biological experiments flown aboard twelve space shuttle flights.

Richard D. Krugman, MD

Richard D. Krugman, MD, is the first Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs for the University of Colorado Denver.  In this role, he supports the deans of Dental Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and the Graduate School for the Health Sciences campus and oversees all clinical programs of the University at its five affiliated hospitals. Along with overseeing clinical programs, the Center on Aging, the Center of Bioethics and Humanities, Colorado Area Health Education (AHEC) system, and Risk Management report to Dr. Krugman.  Dr. Krugman became Dean of the University of Colorado School of Medicine on March 1, 1992, after serving as acting dean for 20 months.  A professor of pediatrics, he served as Director of the C. Henry Kempe National Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect from 1981-1992, and has gained international prominence in the field of child abuse.  He is also President of University Physicians, Inc., the CU School of Medicine faculty practice plan.  Dr. Krugman is a graduate of Princeton University and earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine.  A board-certified pediatrician, he did his internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.  Following a two-year appointment in the early 1970s with the Public Health Service at the National Institute of Health and the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Krugman joined the CU faculty in 1973.  He went back to the Washington area in 1980 as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow and served for a year as a legislative assistant in the office of U.S. Senator Dave Durenberger of Minnesota.

At CU, Dr. Krugman has held a variety of administrative positions including director of admissions and co-director of the Child Health Associate Program, director of the University’s SEARCH/AHEC program, vice chairman for clinical affairs, Department of Pediatrics, and director of the Kempe Center. He has earned many honors in the field of child abuse and neglect, and headed the U.S. Advisory Board of Child Abuse and neglect from 1988-1991.  He is a past Chair of both the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the Council of Deans of the AAMC (2001-2002). Dr. Krugman is a member of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and is currently on the boards of University of Colorado Hospital and The Children’s Hospital of Denver, among others. Dr. Krugman has served on the boards of Princeton University, Denver Health and Hasbro Children’s Foundation.  He has authored over 100 original papers, chapters, editorials and four books and recently stepped down after 15 years as Editor-in-Chief of Child Abuse and Neglect: The International Journal.

Paul Bunn Jr, MD

Paul Bunn Jr, MD is the James Dudley endowed professor of Oncology and  professor of medicine at the University of Colorado Denver. He received his MD at Cornell University Medical Center in New York before completing his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr Bunn then joined the US Public Health Service and worked at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health. While fulfilling his research duties with the NCI, Dr Bunn also acted as an assistant professor of medicine at Georgetown University Medical School, and later as an associate professor of medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Dr Bunn then accepted a position with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center as a full professor of medicine. Dr. Bunn was Director of the University of Colorado Cancer Center from 1986-2009.

Dr Bunn has published extensively on issues of lung cancer diagnosis and treatment in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and the Clinical Cancer Research. He has worked and continues to work on numerous regional and national cancer research projects. Dr Bunn has acted as chairman of the FDA Oncology Drug Advisory Committee, president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and president of the American Association of Cancer Institutes and President of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).
